'Bishounen' is means 'handsome young man' or 'pretty boy' in Japanese. The opposite is 'bishoujo', which is 'pretty girl' (but there aren't any bishoujo here because I'm more interested in guys ^__-). I like many
anime characters because that's what they are... Bishounen. -_-; However,
some say it's a worrying thing, liking anime characters and spending an indecent
amount of time glorifying their prettiness on the web and... ^__^; So, who's up
for some drooling? Arc,
Arc The Lad
WHO IS HE?: Arc is just like Link... He is BEAUTIFUL! Utterly gorgeous! But I don't know very much about him. He might be royalty or something and he might have been cast out by some guy who wanted the throne... Yeah, story goes along those kinda lines. WHY IS HE PRETTY?: You'd have to be blind not to know Arc is such a pretty lad! Look at him real hard! The hair is awesome and his eyes practically scream "I need you!" and the way that bandana flutters in the wind... (Is your heart racing yet???) WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?!: Listen, the big deal is all in the way this guy is unbelievably pretty, beautiful and unreal at the same time. You just can't conceive a guy anywhere near Arc!
WHO IS HE?: I haven't played Final Fantasy VII, or practically all of the Final Fantasy series (I did play IX, but it was boring and I would have to play the most boring one); so I know little about Cloud. WHY IS HE PRETTY?: *Exasperated* Come on!!! He's young, has an ultra-cool hairdo, wears the funkiest gloves this side of reality, and he has that MASSIVE sword! *Ahem* WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?!: I once read a fan fic about Cloud, and I spoiled (I think) the entire story for myself, but hey, who can resist uncovering the destiny of this damned pretty boy...?
WHO IS HE?: You wouldn't believe me if I told you he was the 17th Angel, would you? He is... But you don't believe me. WHY IS HE PRETTY?: Just look at the dude! Albino features go down well, in my opinion! WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?!: Bizarre. I was upset when I read about Kaworu's death and vowed revenge on Shinji (still vowing revenge on Shinji); but when I actually sat down and watched his death, I wasn't! His death is by far one of the most tragic I have ever known!
WHO IS HE?: Used to be a Gatekeeper, but the ruination of his father caused him to change sides. Now he's more or less out to subjugate the human race. WHY IS HE PRETTY?: The hair once again, and that Blues Brother suit should explain all. WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?!: I was quite convinced that he was a well set-up bad-guy-who-isn't-a-bad-guy. I haven't seen him in action (!) yet in the series, but I will eventually continue purchasing the DVDs... Just for him, the poor son of a gun...
WHO IS HE?: Goku is the son of a lowly Saiyan sent to Planet Earth. His mission is to eradicate all the inhabitants in order for his race to sell the planet to other beings requiring its resources. WHY IS HE PRETTY?: Goku isn't pretty, he's just so darn cute!!! WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?!: He has the best sense of humour in the world! He manages to be positive and enthusiastic in everything he does, which is one of the most admirable and inspirational attitudes ever.
WHO IS HE?: Trowa is the third Gundam pilot and one of great mystery... For instance, he plays the flute... WHERE IN THE HELL DID HE EVER HAVE THE TIME TO LEARN THE FLUTE??? WHY IS HE PRETTY?: First reaction: "WOAH! Check out that fringe! That fringe should be illegal!" Yep, it was the hair. And the constant prayers for him to smile or something!!! WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?!: I don't know, honestly. This guy doesn't have much of a personality, does he? (But his personality is the least of my problems.) It's the hair, man!
WHO IS HE?: This anime was complicated, so I can't really remember what this guy was meant to be doing. He used to work for the Navy or whatever, and must have been pretty damned good at his job because he was hired, fired, then hired again. WHY IS HE PRETTY?: Okay, so the picture I've chosen hasn't demonstrated the strength of Hayami's prettiness, but he is pretty in that indie sort of way. His thin frame is very desirable, to say the least, and that hair, and the way he meditates and philosophizes out at sea... Formulae of the pretty. WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?!: Well, Hayami is the definition of Japanese enigma. He is graceful (for a guy, yes) and takes to lounging or brooding over that early mug of coffee. I don't want to say it, but he is the sexiest anime guy in the entire business. (He is, fans, he is.)
WHO IS HE?: Some guardian created by Clow Reed who started out quite cool, then he kind of grew soft. Kicks ass, though. WHY IS HE PRETTY?: The long silver-white hair and those strange cat eyes are brilliant. It gives him this alien look that I find very, uh, intriguing! Uh, hahaha... WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?!: Yue's the only reason I watch 'Cardcaptor Sakura'! And the English voice actor is just the icing on the cake!
WHO IS HE?: I'm not sure really, but he's royalty and a pilot for some kind of special mecha that can only be activated with a special kind of - dance. WHY IS HE PRETTY?: His hair's awesome! (Kinda like my hairstyle at the moment, minus the fringe! But that's beside the point...) He also cuts a sharp figure in that uniform and you can tell immediately that he's very reserved. WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?!: I don't know! I was drawn to Yushiro! You gotta feel sorry for him in a way. Nearly everyone in his family sees him as a tool for maintaining their power.
WHO IS HE?: He is a young (and loony) assassin out to kill some Takatori badasses who put his little sister into a coma. WHY IS HE PRETTY?: Looks similar to Kenshin (hey... why isn't he on this list?!), but I like him because he... Wears a long gothic trench coat. Yes, not many guys can pull off wearing a trench coat now, can they? And what with our dear "Aya" being slightly out of his normal state of mind, no one should argue. WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?!: Nothing really. I discovered "Aya" two weeks ago and I haven't seen the anime, so I don't know. |
